Istanbul has two airports, and which one you land at changes the distance to your hotel entirely.
Istanbul Airport (IST) is in the north-west of the city. To Taksim and Şişli it is about 40 kilometres: 45 minutes with clear roads, an hour and a half in the late afternoon. Sultanahmet is 45 kilometres and similar. Beşiktaş and Ortaköy are 42 kilometres.
Sabiha Gökçen (SAW) is on the Asian side, near Pendik. Asian-side districts such as Kadıköy and Ataşehir are reached in half an hour with no bridge crossing at all. But if your hotel is in Sultanahmet, Taksim or Beşiktaş you must cross a bridge, and the drive can stretch to an hour and a half or two.
In the other cities: Antalya Airport (AYT) lies east of the city — Belek 30–45 minutes, Side about an hour, Kemer 50 minutes to 1.5 hours, Alanya 1.5–2.5 hours. Bodrum–Milas (BJV) is about 36 kilometres and 40 minutes from the centre. Trabzon Airport (TZX) is inside the city, fifteen minutes from the middle.
Because we take the full hotel name at booking, we can give the real time rather than an estimate; two hotels inside the same area name can be twenty minutes apart.
