Antalya Tour

Kaleiçi, the Düden Waterfall and Mediterranean bays.

The Antalya tour brings the history and the sea of the Mediterranean coast together in a single day. It starts in Kaleiçi: Hadrian's Gate from the Roman period, narrow stone lanes, Ottoman houses and gulet boats moored in the old harbour. In the afternoon you move on to the point where the Düden Waterfall falls into the sea, then free time on Konyaaltı or Lara beach. The day closes with shopping in the Kaleiçi bazaar and a walk around the harbour in the evening.

Practical notes for this tour

Best season

April to November. The sea is warm from May to October; July and August are very hot, so the programme spreads to early morning and late afternoon. In winter the city is quiet and green.

Pace and walking

Two to three kilometres of walking in Kaleiçi, on cobbled and sometimes sloping lanes. The waterfall walk is short. A pushchair is hard work in Kaleiçi.

Worth knowing

There is little shade; bring a hat, sunscreen and water. In swimming season bring swimwear — we stop at the beach. Haggling works in the Kaleiçi lanes.
