Turgutreis is about 53 km from the airport, at the western end of the peninsula. The road follows the same route as far as Bodrum, then turns west without entering the town and drops down to Turgutreis through the hills. That stretch inside the peninsula is winding and hilly; the distance looks short but the time is longer than it suggests. In normal conditions the whole trip takes around an hour.
Both are on the same peninsula but they feel different. Bodrum town is lively — nightlife, the marina, the bazaar. Turgutreis is quieter, with a long beach and a weekly market, and leans towards family holidays. Because it faces west the sunset is genuinely worth mentioning, and people walk the seafront in the evening. Bodrum centre is about 20–25 minutes away by car, so choosing the calm does not cost you access to the busy side.
Turgutreis has a marina and a ferry terminal for Kos; if you are thinking of crossing to the island, check passport and visa requirements in advance — it is not a service we arrange. Roads on the peninsula get busy on summer evenings and some turnings are narrow, so with the exact position of the hotel or villa in advance the driver knows the right turn. For guests renting a villa, a description of the address usually matters more than a hotel name.
