The furthest point on the peninsula

Yalıkavak is about 56 km from Milas–Bodrum Airport, the furthest settlement on the peninsula from it. The road follows the same route as far as Bodrum, then turns north-west without entering the town and drops through the hills. The distance is only a few kilometres more than Turgutreis, but the final stretch winds more; in normal conditions the drive takes around an hour.

The marina and the bays

What sets Yalıkavak apart from the peninsula's other bays is its large marina: a berth for international yachts, ringed by shops and restaurants. Accommodation has followed suit, weighted towards design hotels and villa developments. The shoreline is not one long sandy beach as at Turgutreis but a series of separate small coves and jetty beach clubs.

People who come here rarely leave the area

Bodrum centre is about half an hour by car, Turgutreis twenty minutes. Because eating and shopping cluster around the marina, guests staying here mostly do not leave the area and need a daily car less than in the other bays. On the other hand, the roads around the marina get busy on summer evenings and the turnings between villa developments are narrow; if you are renting a villa, taking the location link in advance makes things easier.
