There are two ways to Bursa from Istanbul Airport. The road route crosses the Osmangazi Bridge and works regardless of the hour; the ferry crosses the Marmara and shortens part of the trip but depends on sailing times. For a passenger whose flight is late, the road is safer: there is no sailing to miss.
This is the longest transfer on the site and cannot be planned like a city trip. With children at least one stop along the way is needed; water is in the car and prayer time can be taken at the service areas on the route. Rather than going straight to Bursa after a flight, spending one night in Istanbul is more comfortable for most families.
On intercity trips the vehicle and driver stay with you all day; in Bursa you will not need separate transport between Uludag, the Ulu Mosque and Cumalikizik. If the return is planned for the same day, counting back from the flight time, leave a traffic margin on top of the three hours on the road.
