How far is Taksim from Istanbul Airport and how long does the drive take?

Taksim is about 40 km from Istanbul Airport. The drive takes 45 minutes in normal conditions and can reach an hour and a half at the morning and evening peaks into the city. At midday the same road is noticeably quicker.

Do we have to cross the Bosphorus?

No. Taksim and Istanbul Airport are both on the European side, so there is no bridge or tunnel crossing. That is the biggest difference from the same journey out of Sabiha Gökçen: bridge traffic does not enter the calculation.

My hotel is on Istiklal Street — can the car reach the door?

Istiklal Street is closed to traffic, so hotels on the street itself cannot be reached by car. The vehicle drops you at the nearest possible point and a short walk remains. With the full hotel address taken at booking, the driver knows that point in advance and there is no circling with luggage.
